LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

I am encouraging each member to support Women on the Move® . We need to sell tickets and tables, obtain sponsors, obtain underwriters and support Margo and her committee. This is a tremendous effort and the money goes to the mentoring programs, scholarships and grants to agencies. We have supported and recognized women in the community for many years with the event, but it takes all of us to make it successful.

Congratulations to Sally Andrews for being selected as the 2005 Texas Executive Women's nominee to the Federation of Houston Professional Women of Excellence.

The TEW Board of Directors has begun the year of work. Working with this board will be a great experience for me. Mary Ann Collier will be the Director at Large working to communicate with the membership and the board.

One of my most valuable mentors forwarded to me an article from the Harvard Business Review , April 2004 edition. The article was entitled Do Women Lack Ambition and was written by Anna Frels. It is very thought-provoking and I would encourage each of you to read it.

?It is no secret that women receive less recognition for their accomplishments than men do. The documentation is substantial, and the findings are consistent?. ?What can be done in the face of overwhelming odds stacked women's ambitions?? Here are some suggestions: Organize, Don't Expect Things to Fall in Place, Provide for Structures of Recognition, Blow Your Own Horn, Realize It's Never Too Late.

TEW provides resources for all of us. Come to the February meeting, bring a guest and invite a member that you have not seen for awhile.
