LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

What a great year for TEW ! I want to thank the membership for allowing me to be President. I have enjoyed each moment of the time and have met so many of you and learned so much about you. The Board of Directors has been great to work with.

We have a great organization and I know that we will continue to grow and make a difference in the lives of the girls and women that we support.

As the Holiday Season approaches, I want to wish each of you great times and peace.

Thank each of you for the support of Women on the Move®. It was a great turnout and the generosity from individuals and corporations raised over
$100, 000 for the TEW Programs. Thanks to Margo Snider and the committee for all of the tireless hours they spent to make this event successful. It was rewarding to see the students that are mentored by the members of TEW. Their assistance in selling gift basket tickets raised additional funds.

The Nominating Committee has prepared a slate of officers for the 2006 year. Please vote for the new board when you receive the ballot. The results of the Member Survey will be released soon and I thank all of you that answered the survey.

Sheridan Scott has planned the Christmas Social. It will be at the Houston Club on December13th, 2005. You and a guest are invited. The socials are a great opportunity to get to know the members. Invitations have been sent to members.

We need more news about the members. Forward any news about you or other members to Cay Dickon at ocayd@ocay.com . Remember that the member that brings the most guests to the monthly meetings will receive a free membership for 2007. Beverly Kaufman is the winner for 2006. Happy Holidays.

We did not change, as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves. - Lynn Hall

President

MEMO ON MEMBERSHIP

2005 Report – Mamie Moy, VP, Membership

This has been a most enjoyable year for me as VP for membership. Being an optimist, I started off with a goal of 20 new members, only to have three as of the end of December. Of course, I would like to take credit for the ten new members who are Class of 2005 WOM.

A program was announced and implemented in March to boost the meeting attendance. The program was a very simple – the member bringing the cumulative largest number of guests to the 2005 monthly meetings has her 2006 dues waived.

The winner is Beverly Kaufmann. We hope to continue this program in 2006. Please look for the announcement with perhaps some enhancements to the program.

The average meeting attendance has been 20 members and 4 guests. All who attended thoroughly enjoyed the speakers, making and renewing friends.

TEW looks forward to another year of increasing its membership and furthering the mission and vision of the organization.

THANK YOU LETTER FROM

Women on the Move® What a Great Event!

Words cannot express how happy I am with the success of this year's WOM luncheon. It was the greatest one yet!

Of course we all know that to succeed with such an event, you must have excellent honorees, and that we did. The judges, Sally Andrews, Sharon Michael Owens, Sheila Cox Manning, Diane Cowen, and Nancy Morrison out did themselves in making the selection.

If you have forgotten whom these 10 outstanding women are, let me refresh your memory:

Genora Kendrick Boykin
Theresa W. Chang
Pauline E. Higgins
Frances Jeter
Nancy Levicki
Susan Llanes-Meyers
Suzanne O'Malley
Juanita Romans
Margo Scholin

Please take the time to congratulate these honorees and welcome them to the ranks of Texas Executive Women.

Wally Newman did a fantastic job showcasing the honorees in the video presented at the luncheon. This video is available for your use in any of your mentoring projects. For the first time this year, it is in DVD format.

There are so many thank yous that need to be said. Let me start with the Houston Chronicle, our long time Anchoring Sponsor, and CenterPoint Energy, Printing Sponsor. New this year are Shell Oil Company, Gold Event Sponsor and Memorial Hermann, Silver Event Sponsor.

Table sales were outstanding as well. Platinum tables included Peter Chang M.D., Theresa W. Chang, Duke Energy, HEB, and Reliant Energy. Baker Botts, Chevron Global Power, Frances and Rick Jeter, Margo and Harold Scholin and Ellen Susman purchased Gold tables. There were 31 Silver tables. A special thank you needs to go to Beverly Kaufman for her efforts in spearheading table sales.

The support of TEW members is always appreciated, and the coordinating committee of Bonnie Berube, Carolyn Faulk, Maureen Sanders, Beth Ann Scher, Sheridan Scott and MK Stalder did an outstanding job, as usual. We are indeed fortunate to have Elyse Kalmans and Laura Loebl as event coordinators and I look forward to working with them again for the 2006 event.

There are just too many individuals to specifically name, but know that if you were there and supported the event in any way, I deeply appreciate it. Although the financials have not yet bee finalized, we expect to net $100,000.

In January, the Board will decide how to disperse the proceeds. And in January, we will start planning for the 2006 event—so, get your thinking caps on and get ready to nominate another outstanding class of WOM.

- Margo Snider

TEW MENTORING PROGRAM

MentoringThe girls recently had a tour with Capt. Karen Du Pont of the Houston Fire Department. Needless to say, Capt. DuPont lit a fire under them.

Ladies of Excellence at Aldine Ninth Grade School - Community Service email

Mrs. Holt, on November 20, Ms. Carter Terry and I took about 18 L.O.E. girls to the Cherokke Nation public educational event.  The girls earned 10 hours by selling raffle tickets, serving food and provided general help. The girls had a great experience. They learned things about the Cherokees that they did not know.  They were great.
