LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

With the arrival of May to our calendars, many of us are involved in beginnings and endings; the ending of this year's TEW Mentoring programs, both the beginnings and endings associated with graduations be they kindergarten, high school or college, for our mentoring schools and in our own families.

Due to the diligent work of Paula Bohls and her Scholarship Committee TEW was able to award scholarships to sixteen young ladies this year, eight from Aldine High School, one from Ball High School, and seven from Westbury High School . We thank Paula and her committee for their contribution to our mentees' futures.

Margo Snider and Katie Winslade not only had their first scholarship applicant from Ball High School, but she, Karely Benavides, was the top TEW dollar awardee this year; a most outstanding young lady who has been accepted to Texas A&M and wishes to study meteorology. We may be getting our TV weather reports from her in the future. She was presented her scholarship at the Ball/Westbury Recognition Luncheon on April 23 along with the Westbury scholarship winners. Our thanks for the dedication from Margo and Katie to shepherd the Ball program through the last four years to this fruition.

I can not end the thanks without mention of our own Annie Cater, who once again kept us entertained while teaching table etiquette at the Ball/Westbury luncheon.

Also, my heartfelt thanks to all the other volunteers, Beth Ann Scher, Florence Kusnetz, Linda Holt, Katherine Hudgins, Carol Parker who work hours and hours to provide opportunities to young women. If you are interested in participating there will be many opportunities when all the programs start up again this coming September.

Linda Holt and Katherine Hudgins will end this school year's program with their Recognition Banquet on May 14 at The Greenspoint Club. There is still time to call your invitation in to Linda.

I hope to see you at the meeting next Tuesday. Once again we will be offering education or entertainment, (maybe both), good food and fellowship.

Carolyn Wyly

President
